We often celebrate extraordinary destinations, iconic landmarks, tropical beaches, and unforgettable vacations. But most of life unfolds somewhere far more familiar. At one and in then neighborhood.

Wish You Were Here invites artists to create postcard-sized works inspired by the beauty, meaning, and quiet wonder of everyday life. Rather than documenting famous places, this exhibition celebrates the spaces, moments, routines, and connections that make home and community feel extraordinary. By creating where you live a place of wonder,  you are inviting people to see, things in a different way, and inspire them to notice the wonderful in their every day. To be clear, you are also celebrating yourself as an artist, trough your personal lens.

Using the familiar language of the traditional postcard, artists are encouraged to share a personal glimpse into their world. For example, a trip to the grocery store may provide a plethora or color or images of concentrating shoppers…  Each work becomes an invitation to travel through the artist’s eyes—to discover the joy found in ordinary places and to experience how artists transform daily life into something meaningful.

Together, these postcards will form a collective portrait of the artists of Inspirational Art Group International, revealing not only where we are, but how we see. The exhibition celebrates the idea that life’s greatest gifts are often found close to home, and that art has the power to help us notice the beauty that surrounds us every day.

To hopefully spark your interest with examples, artists may wish to create fictitious recipients, dead ancestors, famous movie stars, women in art history, or anything else. You can put these recipients at known locations such as, Paris, Texas; Oberlin, Ohio; Marrakesh, Morocco; Coyoacan, Mexico (where Frieda was born). Or you can even write to the dead, for example a relative that passed, a future son in-law, your dog, or women artists that ruled the Renaissance: Annikka Olsen, Plautilla Nelli, Catherine van Hemessen, Sofonisba Anguissola, Lavoinia Fontana.

Feel free to use ANY medium in postcard format as shown in the samples. To keep the art consistent, ideally, use the 4 x 6 size which can be purchased on Amazon, Blick, or your local art store. Postcards come in watercolor papers or photo papers and have lines and a place for the stamp on the back. However, feel free to draw up your own back to look like a postcard. Layered cards also work as long as they are approximately 4 x 6 inches.

You can create as many cards as you want. Depending on the number of artists interested, we expect to show at least ten of your favorites.
