Ron Donofrio

Photographer, Image Maker, Activist Artist:
Producing visual literacy through imagery.

I’ve been privileged to witness and capture, what nature produces, man builds, and sometimes destroys. The beauty and tension are the balance.

The commitment to be an artist activist / activist artist, has evolved organically; marching for social equitable change, and other times,  against unjust treatment of those being robbed of social equity. That was the start.

Today my activism is singular in nature, capturing images of those that are committed to ending gun violence, racism and securing the right of social equity and justice.

Those are the heroes that I support.

I participate in social issues that are personal and take different paths, yet all can lead to a more safe, equitable and inclusive society. A visual voice is a strong inclusive communicator in society.

My friends who are activist artists educated me on doing live installations/activations, and for me to participate, is an opportunity to interpret, communicate their work, and the work of others through their activism and art.

It’s cool to be a guest of the light, to produce a marker that states; “something happened here, something important”, “something that impacted lives, nature, and society”.

To discover something that feels unique, or witnessing the uniqueness of others, committing to their art and social activism, is being invited to participate in righting a wrong, securing social equity and maybe saving a life.

Art marks time, an era, and artists illuminating it. There is no way around it. Art is life.
