Frank Matheis

Writer and Essayist

Contributing writer to the Inspiration Arts Group International, Frank Matheis, is a music, visual arts and culture writer. His column ‘In Other Words’, formerly with the Hammond Museum, features member artists in all disciplines. He is also the editor of the ‘Guest Articles’ published by the Inspiration Arts Group International. Frank is a contributing writer to Living Blues magazine (Center for Southern Culture Studies) and publisher of thecountryblues.com. His latest project was the book ‘Sweet Bitter Blues’ was co-written with National Heritage Fellow Phil Wiggins (University Press of Mississippi,2020) with whom he is now partnering on their second book.

Frank was formerly an award-winning radio and music producer (Winner: New York Festivals – Best Foreign Radio Documentary, 2002) with ten years on-air as radio DJ and radio producer, including for Deutschlandradio, WKZE and WVKR. His music and culture documentaries have aired on three continents.

He has published more than 900 newspaper, digital media and print magazine music, arts and culture articles such as in Blues Access and Living Blues magazines, and numerous others including SingOut. To a lesser degree, he is also a published photographer and video producer.
