Soft Chair
- Pine with a marine varnish
- 31” (w) x 25” (d) x 46” (h); Weight: 68 lbs.
- “SOFT CHAIR” sits on a platform base and is attached to that base with four ¼” galvanized bolts. Four ½ metal “L” brackets are attached to the inside of the platform base with deck screws. Holes on the outside of those brackets allow the work to be staked to the ground. The perimeter of the work is then covered with mulch.
- Aside from brushing off falling leaves, no other maintenance is required.
“SOFT CHAIR” is a work created from laminated and carved pine and finished with a moisture proof marine varnish. It is made of two parts, the chair itself and its platform base. The chair is mounted to its base with galvanized lag bolts.
While my work is usually “shape driven,” the forms that evolve in the planning stages often have intriguing metaphorically connotations that reflect upon our threatened environment: the “melting” shapes of “SOFT CHAIR” suggests global warming.
