- Table of Contents is an outdoor free standing installation by Linda Mussmann. It is made of sets of encyclopedias & dictionaries which are placed on a wooden table made of rough cut lumber 3′ X 4′ X 8′. The table holding the books will be placed at the bowling alley site. The volume of books is laid open on its spine.
- The installation of books weathers with each day–all open to the environment and will change daily during the time it remains at the Lyndhurst site in October 2024.
The elements of water, snow, and sun, and the changing surroundings will transform the pages and the contents of these volumes of collected knowledge. I have done this work at the site here in Hudson, NY
Linda Mussmann, American artist born 1947 Gary, Indiana. Currently lives with her long time partner Claudia Bruce in Hudson, NY where Linda & Claudia manage Time & Space Limited, a multi-artist space in Hudson, NY.
Past work that I am including is the ONE POTATO show that I created for an outdoor installation in Chatham, NY. This was 6’X6’X8′ using wooden sticks, baling wire, gauze, holding the structure together–and sweet potatoes in ball glass jars –some of the potatoes were sprouting and were to continue to sprout during the time that the installation was to be on display.
I have done work in the theater for the past 5 decades creating installations using simple materials and lights to create environments for performance.
