Dancing with the River
- Metal, strips of aluminum, stones
- Three sculptures: 24” x 12”; 27” x 22″; 30” x 12”
- Each sculpture may be around 6 to 8 lb. Each sculpture’s frame will be attached to a metal plate base that will sit on the ground. Large rocks will sit on the plate, which will “anchor” the piece. There is no maintenance required.
My installation is inspired by the water and movement of the Hudson River. Look closely, the ripples are the same, the ripples are different. Look closely, the sculptures are the same, the sculptures are different.
Since much of my education and experience has the background of New York City’s skyscrapers, a passion for the vertical shapes my primary artistic direction. Trees, curls from ocean spray, the curves of mountains and waves are my inspirations too from other places I have lived, the Bahamas, New Jersey, Westchester County and Woodstock, New York. All of these are in my heart and form my sense of place. My work is intuitive. Whether sculpture, construction or installation, the hallmark is the creation of unity between form and space in which my pieces live. My sculptures, constructions in paper, stainless steel, aluminium and copper, engage the viewer through surface and scale, looking at ordinary materials in a new way.
