In “Remnants”, as in some of my earlier drawings, I had an image in mind of scattered, fragmented pieces. Ironically, the steel beams of the towers had felt like feathers floating and raining down on the street. There is a kind of ephemeral quality to this painting, too, due to its pale lavender color and the airy absence in its negative space.
