“Orange Patch” was painted a little later after the immediate shock of what had occurred wore off and when we realized our lives were to be effected by a strange, incipient orange-ness creeping in.
I painted two other pieces in this series called “Bruise” and “Dark Victory”.
Titles are absolutely vital in my work. I feel they extend an idea I’m working to portray—and I love working with words so it becomes a chance to “write”.
The titles can enhance communication with the viewer. At a show where “Hope, and Disappointment” was exhibited, a viewer pointed out to me that “H” and “D” also referred to the candidates’ names (Hillary and Donald). She got it!
