Hope, and Disappointment
2016
Mixed media on canvas
36 x 24 inches
$3500
There was such a feeling of hope that year as we expected to see our first woman President elected in 240 years. The result seemed a sure thing. As it turned out, the outcome was overwhelming disappointment. It was jarring, unexpected, unbelievable, unreal.
The value contrast alone in my painting speaks to the discrepancy of reality and expectation. My anger sometimes comes out in forceful black marks and I couldn’t make these strong enough!
