This self-portrait alludes to Alice and her insatiable curiosity in Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland”. In contrast to the “White Rabbit” in the previous portrait, who observes and withdraws, Alice’s attitude is curious and moving. The frame in this portrait of Alice became the background in the portrait of the rabbit. We can see each one as the opposite sides of a mirror, where things seem the same, but actually represent a different, even opposite, reality.
