Artist Statement
“Untamed” is a book about the complexity and resilience of the natural world. I am a printmaker, and I often collage pieces of woodcuts and etchings into mixed media pieces. This book was a way to create a 3-dimensional collage designed in the interactive format of a book.
Offering a message of hope, “Untamed” tells a story of survival in the forest through bits of images of foliage, vines, pieces of impressions of nature. Through text and imagery, “Untamed” embraces the wildness of nature and suggests that the untamable and adaptable forces of nature will ultimately provide the keys to its own survival over industrialization, urban development and climate change.
