This work was inspired by a contemporary haiku that ends with the phrase “…reflected in a pan of stars”. Having experienced a similar moment while looking down at a bowl of orange juice (during a meditation retreat) reflecting a star-shaped ceiling light, I was caught by the haiku’s graphic visual image. Literally, I have created a bowl lit from within, which catches long streamers of metallic “stars”.
