ADAM GRABOIS, cello
Adam Grabois has a varied career as chamber musician, soloist, teacher and recording artist and is the founder of the record label, Reflex Editions, about whose first recording the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote, “Sometimes, the way he plays with the sound of a single note has enough emotional sustenance in it to launch a half-dozen distinct feelings in quick succession.” A second disc with violinist, Deborah Wong, DUOS: Martinu, Ravel, Kodaly, was subsequently released to critical acclaim. With the New York Chamber Soloists, Adam Grabois appeared at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Morgan Library, the National Gallery, the Getty Center, the Kravis Center and colleges and universities nationwide.
Educated at Swarthmore College, he studied with David Finckel. He has a long association with Kinhaven Music School in Vermont, where he performs and teaches cello and chamber music. He is the director of the school’s Young Artist Seminar and previously served as president of Kinhaven’s board of directors. He has been on the faculty of the Weston Music Center in Connecticut since 2004. His cello was made by Samuel Zygmuntowicz in Brooklyn, NY (1998) and his bows were made by Ole Kanestrøm (2004 and 2008).
MARGARITA NULLER, piano
Ms. Nuller graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory, Russia. Since her arrival in the United States in 1990, she has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician in the New York metropolitan area and in New England as well as in Brazil, Russia, Spain, and Portugal. She has been soloist with the Arkansas Symphony (AK), Danbury Symphony (CT), Klassika Orchestra (St. Petersburg, Russia), Orchestra Temple Beth (CT), and Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico. Ms. Nuller played her debut recital at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City as a winner of the Artist International Auditions. Her CD of Russian music was released on L’Art label in 2003. She has attended many summer festivals including the SIPO in Óbidos (Portugal), the Shandelee Festival (NY), and Music in the Palaces Festival in St. Petersburg (Russia). She has taught at the University of Hartford (CT), the Moussorgsky College of Music (Russia) and the Connecticut Conservatory in New Milford (CT). Currently Ms. Nuller has a busy teaching studio in New Fairfield, CT and is on the faculty of the Kent School. She is the organist at the Church of Christ, Scientist in Ridgefield (CT), and a regular accompanist at Camerata d’Amici.
