Mimi Czajka Graminski
Mimi Czajka Graminski lives in New York’s Hudson Valley. She works in many different media exploring light, color and movement. Her work has been shown in many venues. Recent exhibits include the Hammond Museum, Lockwood Gallery, Window on Hudson and Joyce Goldstein Gallery, all in New York. She has received many awards and has been invited to residencies in Iceland, Finland and the UK. Her work was recently highlighted in the EcoArtSpace blog as well as the Dutch magazine Textiel Plus.
The work shown in this profile stems from the past two years where she became very sensitive to the environment and noticed many subtle things around her.
“I was drawn to and became enamored of the abundance of materials I could find in nature – leaves and flowers, along with the combined effects of moving air and light. I noticed and was drawn to shadows made with the combination of wind and sunlight. I pinned leaves and petals onto boards (reminding me of early naturalists) and focus the attention on their organic shapes and colors using photography to enhance and document the work.”
