“Each painting has its own way of evolving… when the painting is finished, the subject reveals itself” – William Baziotes.
This quote states my view of my art, what I hope to accomplish, how I go about creating art and why I create art. Each painting starts the same way; with a mark upon the canvas becomes an idea that evolves into an individual image with its own composition and design.
My paintings represent my curiosity about people, life and relationships. Just as I wonder what will happen in my future? How some events will turn out? Will I be able to accomplish all I dream of in life? I have this same thought when I start to paint. I have not a clue where I’m going and what the end result will be. No plan, just wonder and excitement, “what am I creating with my hands?”
I was startled to realize that some of the works are autobiographical reflections of my life; what happened to me in my life, my interest and my happiness. In the beginning I was just painting, putting paints on the canvas and getting pleasure from the birth of the images I created. And then when applying the titles to the paintings I saw my life emerge.
