Teaching Artist Bio

Jeanette

Jeanette Rodriguez is a teaching artist and has worked in the art field for over 25 years. She graduated from the High School of Art and Design and received her Bachelor in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Rodriguez is an award-winning artist who has exhibited in Solo and group exhibitions nationally. She is the Founder of Soul Painting, a workshop that helps students tap into their intuition.

Jeanette has experience working with all age groups in both communities and via Zoom. She taught in Mayer, Arizona, and the Big Island of Hawaii. Upon returning to New York, she began teaching Soul Painting in the Hudson Valley area. In her Soul Painting workshop, Jeanette introduced a playful art form of meditation. This technique allows students to experiment with wet paper and drops of concentrated watercolors within a circle.

As an artist, she finds that painting helps her release stress; it has assisted her in healing. She’s learned to live in the moment and trust the process. She shares her creative teaching style with the same motivation and enthusiasm to help students release stress and discover their inner-artistic gifts.

During the pandemic, invited to teach via Zoom, Jeanette felt determined to find a way to create a workshop that encompassed the same belief system as her Soul Painting in-person workshops. She had a new workshop insight –– Mandala Dot Painting Step-by-Step Guide.

This workshop helps to relax by placing dots to quiet the mind. Jeanette believes when a person is engaged in artistic activities that nurture their soul, it gives them a sense of purpose, belonging, and joy.

Student Survey Responses

“I really enjoyed the Mandala workshop. This was my first experience with Mandala and I am so thankful for the opportunity to be introduced to something new and different for me. Although I am not artistic, I am crafty and think that I would like to continue to do Mandala art.” -S

“The workshop was even better than I expected. Prior to the workshop I was concerned that we would be painting designs on our own so I was thankful that we were guided step by step.  It was relaxing and fun.  I would definitely recommend you hosting another workshop and I would certainly attend if able. I am newly retired and in these times, I am always looking for any programs that I can do remotely.”  -C

“I had no idea what to expect when I registered for the zoom Mandala painting workshop although I was curious about Mandala painting. I found the workshop to be fun, relaxing and a nice introduction into learning about this beautiful Asian art form – it was pleasurable learning experience. I plan to practice Mandala painting some more at home with my left over paint supplies. The instructor Jeanette Rodriguez was very patient and went at a good pace during the lesson not too slow or too fast. She made the whole experience relaxing, calm and easy to follow.” -D

“The Mandala Workshop was wonderful and I enjoyed it very much! Thank you so much for the affordable supply list but especially for your very calming and thoughtful guidance. I would definitely be happy to participate if offered again.” -N

“I loved it & I would love to attend more classes like it.  The instructor’s pace and expertise was really helpful.” -D
